We’re back! With the Geek’s Guide, 2026

November 3, 2026 by Sam Wang

Welcome back, Princeton Election Consortium fans. We’re back, and so is the Geek’s Guide to the Election!

I’m full-time posting over at Fixing Bugs in Democracy. But as you can see, the polling snapshot is back. Here’s what it shows for today:

For me, PEC was the start. Before entering the fight for fair districting, democracy, and science, I began analyzing polls in 2004. Since that time generations of forecasters have entered (and exited) the fray: Nate Silver, then others, and today, G. Elliott Morris. It’s an industry!

Back then, it was just hand-coded scripts in a language most of you don’t know, MATLAB. That first wave of nerdery progressed from Presidential politics to Congress – and the Princeton Gerrymandering Project and Vote Maximizer, which I hope you’ve used.

Life goes on – and expands. I’ll try to get a comment thread open here (new interface, yikes)…but if you don’t see me, look around the Substack, where I might be hanging around!
