Today at 2:45pm: Sam on Independent State Legislative Doctrine
Greetings from the University of New Hampshire! I’m part of a great symposium on Contemporary Issues in Election Law (Zoom registration link). Ned Foley, Ellen Weintraub, Jonathan Cervas, Andrew Appel, and more. The agenda is here. At 2:45pm I will talk about the Independent State Legislative Doctrine. My estimates suggest that any logical interpretation of this doctrine, if applied evenhandedly across the nation, does not benefit the party of its proponents. In some case, their opponents are the beneficiaries. This provides a necessary lens through which to view the Supreme Court’s deliberations. Tune in!
